IMPORTANT PROCEDURES
 

ABYSB Summer Procedures

Umpires:   The home team is responsible for canceling an umpire for rain or other factors.  Phone numbers for the umpire assigners are posted in the league directory.  Any cancellation, for a reason other than weather related, must be made before 8:00 PM the day before the game; otherwise you may be responsible for the umpire’s fee.

ABYSB Spring/Fall Procedures
 

GAME CANCELATIONS - (RAIN)
If the weather or field conditions are questionable, the head coaches from both teams should discuss the possibility of cancelling the game. If they decide to cancel, the head coach of the home team must call or text the umpire coordinator below at least 2 hours before game time:

The rule is if the umpire shows up he/she gets paid. So if we do not cancel the game in time, the umpire will be paid and no umpire fee will be available for a potential make-up game.

GAME CANCELATIONS - (NON-RAIN)
We need to give 48 hour notice to cancel a game for non-weather related reasons (e.g. the inability to field a team). You must send an email to Al Caruso ( ) at least 48 hours prior to the game's start time, listing the division, team names, field & game start time you are cancelling. If the game is not cancelled with enough notice then the head coaches must go to the field at game time and pay the umpire the entire game fee.

MAKE-UP GAMES
If you need an umpire for make-up games contact Al Caruso ( ) and give at least 1 week notice. The longer notice the better chance of getting an umpire.

UMPIRE PAYMENT
The current fee is $44 per game.

For Spring/Fall, when two AB league teams play on an AB field, each head coach should pay the umpire $22 before the start of the game.  When an AB league team plays a team from another town on an AB field, the AB head coach should pay the full $44 before the start of the game.  When an AB league team plays another town's team on that town's field, the home team will pay the umpires the full amount, and the AB team should not pay any amount.

UMPIRE NO-SHOW
If an umpire appears to be a no-show at your game, please notify our umpire coordinator immediately. He may be able to get an umpire there late. In the meantime, use a coach or knowledgable parent to call the game - they should do so from behind the pitcher, not behind the catcher.
